How do you like your WORK ORDERS to appear? Here is where to change that. Just enter a prefix and a suffix that matches (or closely approximates) the work order system you are using now. Barcode Magician will generate a new work order number based on the model above whenever the code '@WORKORDER' appears in the CUSTOM MODS section of the action code. You may use this feature to generate work order numbers for repairs, checkouts, in-for-cals, etc.
Asset Descriptions
User Descriptions
Within this section you can choose to customize which fields of information the Run-Time module will display about the items involved in a transaction. You may want to show particular fields of information that will tell the user that the proper equipment has been scanned in, or that the correct user entry is shown. Data contained in these fields will be shown on the Run-Time screen during a transaction process.
Guests
Allow Guests to Use System
Force Guests to Create a Password
Purge Guests after
Days
Require Password to Log In
Force Uppercase Data Entry
Here you can define how people will have access to Barcode Magician, and ultimately, to MET/TRACK itself. Since Barcode Magician makes changes to MET/TRACK, you may wish to restrict access to who uses Barcode Magician and how. The ALLOW GUESTS TO USE SYSTEM option allows convenience to people who need to use the system but haven't been added using the USERS EDITOR. When a new user's barcode is detected, Barcode Magician will prompt for appropriate information to complete the account in the USERS DATABASE. The next three choices define how long the guest remains active in the system, and whether or not a password is required to log in. REQUIRE PASSWORD TO LOG IN means that a person must log in/out of Barcode Magician to make transactions. The next check is whether the User ID display is changed to asterisks(***) for users that use their social security number. The next check is if you want to force uppercase data entries. The next check is to allow users or guests to edit their own user info.
Users Database Fields Customization
Required
With USERS DATABASE FIELDS CUSTOMIZATION you can specify terminology that may be more applicable to your organizational needs. For example, if your company does not have several divisions that need access to Barcode Magician, then you can change the DIVISION field to something more useful, such as SUPERVISOR. This customized terminology will be available the next time somebody uses the USER EDITOR. By selecting REQUIRED next to a field, you make entries into that field mandatory.
Barcode/Asset Number
Inventory Field:
Allow Use of Aliasing
Aliasing allows you to specify a field other than I4201 (asset number) for searching. For example, an asset may have a number of 'AC123' but it's barcode tag may have '123456' on it. If you have a field in MET/TRACK that contains this assets' barcode number (for example: I4210) then set INVENTORY FIELD listed above to that field. If your barcode tags contain the actual asset number then do not select ALLOW USE OF ALIASING and you do not use the aliasing feature.
